Library

Welcome to our library

We have a wonderful school library run by our librarian, Mrs Thomas. Each class visits our library fortnightly. Children have the opportunity to renew, return or issue books and they can have up to two books on loan.  We encourage all children to have their library books in school on the day of their library visit.

During library sessions Mrs Thomas, our school librarian, provides support and inspiration to the children.  Books are showcased to entice the children to try a range of authors and genes and book recommendations are provided.  Children also have the opportunity to read quietly in the library during their class visit.

Pupil Librarians

We have a very reliable and hard-working team of pupil librarians that work alongside Mrs Thomas at lunchtimes.  The Pupil Librarians help with organising and the day-to-day running of the library which develops a sense of responsibility, achievement and self-esteem in the children.

An introduction from our Pupil Librarian Team

We love our job as pupil librarians because, we like to excite and help others enjoy reading as much as we do. Our job includes scanning and shelving books, helping Mrs Thomas, plus planning exciting book events!

Library Open for all our children and families 3.20pm-4pm on Friday afternoons

All our families are welcome to come and spend time reading and browsing the books between 3.20pm and 4.00pm, a perfect opportunity to help change your child’s book. Mrs Thomas will be in the library during this time to help and recommend  books too.  If you wish to visit please come in through the school office where you will be asked to sign in.

Children are encouraged to read their library books regularly at home and in school.    Children should read 3 or 4 times a week as a minimum to an adult and we encourage all reading to be recorded in your child's reading record.   Reading records need to be brought into school on Thursdays and are monitored by the class teachers.  Children who read regularly practice the necessary skills of reading and are far more likely to develop a life long love of reading.
