Year 5 Weekly Highlights 15.7.22
Bracing the weather this week, Year 5 have ventured out of the classroom to learn in the shade. One such moment was during our maths lesson where we used chalks to draw our 4-cell representations of converting measures. By the end of the lesson the playground looked more like Einstein's working wall!
In English this week we began our new unit on the fabulous book The Explorers by Katherine Rundell. After reading the first few paragraphs of the book, the children planned and wrote the rest of the opening chapter recalling the events of the disastrous plane children of the four children aboard.
In science, we have continued to explore lifecycles of animals/ insects and birds reflecting on previous classification skills. Using secondary sources, the children have explore a wide range of creatures and using this information they have drawn conclusions about different species lifecycles.
Our final Street dance session occurred on Wednesday. Throughout the half-term children have enjoyed learning a range of street dance styles from house to hip-hop with the help of Mitch, our dance coach. It has been a delight to see every child take part and grow in confidence to perform moves on their own.
Just one more week to go! Please remember to bring a water bottle daily as the weather is continuing to be hot, hot, hot
