Year 4 Weekly Highlights 1.7.22
There has been a literal buzz in the air in year 4 this week as the children construct and refine the alarm systems they have designed to protect the Rosetta Stone. Any burglars foolhardy enough to attempt this heist will soon find they have triggered an alarm and bright lights that bring the security team running. It has been wonderful to see the children applying their Creativity and Working Together skills to this challenge. Other curriculum areas covered this week have included the SRE unit in 4P and 4CO with 4S to follow next week. Our focus has been on the changes that occur in puberty. Please do talk to your child about what they have learnt and give them the opportunity to ask any questions.
In other areas, English has seen some fantastic sea creature poems written. With a focus on alliteration and similes, the children blew us away with their fantastic choice of words and creative ideas. There is many a budding poet in the year group! We have also continued with reading our new non-fiction text about a child's life in Ancient Egypt and have been examining the role that pictures play in such texts. Finally, in maths we have completed our time unit and will now be starting on geometry. Thank you to all those parents who have supported with the tricky topic of time at home. The games remain on Google Classroom for any who want to keep practising.
