Year 5 Weekly Highlights 24.6.22
Year 5 have impressed us to no end this week with their creativity and resilience. We couldn’t be prouder.
In English, we have begun exploring our beautiful Wonder Garden text that plunges us into the depths of the Amazon Rainforest and makes us feel as if we are surrounded by the exotic animal and plant life! We have compared the similarities and differences between this text and ones that share this fascinating subject matter, with an aim of refamiliarising ourselves with tricky features such as person, tense and form.
This week has also seen us continue on into our new focus in Maths: Decimals! Year 5 haven been learning to apply their knowledge of finding equivalent fractions (and multiplicative relationships!) when seeking out decimals such as tenths and hundredths. Despite the challenge, they are really getting to grips with this and demonstrating strong resilience. Keep It up!
And finally, we have been especially excited to have created our drawbridges in Design and Technology to protect us from the Viking raid! Using saws, drills and lots of glue, we were able to create effective lifting mechanisms and decorate them with additional safety features.
Just some of our favourite examples included trap doors and turrets. Congratulations on all of your fantastic efforts.
