Year 4 Weekly Highlights 6.5.22
It may have only been a 4 day week, but Year 4 have certainly managed to cram a lot in! We are coming to the end of our fractions unit and will be starting on decimals next week. The children have developed a wide range of strategies for tackling fractions problems and we are proud of the ambition and creativity they have shown with this. Our English unit about Marcy continues with a focus now on grammar, particularly fronted adverbials and complex sentences. Excitingly, we have had our first badminton lesson this week in which we learnt the steps to the backhand serve. This is a tricky skill, but it is already clear we have some promising young players. A big focus in the afternoons this week has been PDL - learning about alcohol. The children have learnt how it affects the body and mind, what influences the effect of alcohol and the laws surrounding alcohol use. You may want to ask your child about their understanding. In between, we have somehow managed to continue with our reading lessons (retrieving information from non-fiction texts), practise our spellings and times tables, play rounders, learn about the Anglos Saxons and use the computers. 4CO have even played the ukulele in their Listen to Me lessons! We are looking forward to having the full 5 days to play with next week.
