Year 3 Highlights 8.4.22
It has been a busy week with the spring term drawing to a close. On Monday the poetry competition winners performed their pieces in assembly to the whole school. It was an exciting finale and congratulations to those Year 3 children that bravely stood on the stage and delivered their wonderful recitals. In English this week we wrote our own poems on either sun or rain inspired by ‘Hurricane’ by Dionne Brand. The children used her 4 line Kenning structure and focussed on using precise language and the correct layout..
In Maths we have been exploring units of measure and focusing on using rulers and metre sticks to accurately measure objects in millimetres, centimetres and metres. Our lessons have been very active with children moving around the classroom and learning how to use the equipment accurately from carefully measuring from zero. Throughout the summer term we will be learning time in Maths, please could you support your child by helping them with telling the time to the nearest 5 minutes using an analogue clock. Here is a website link with an interactive clock you may like to use to support this - https://www.topmarks.co.uk/time/teaching-clock
Music lessons have involved pupils refining and practising their performance skills whilst learning to play Clair de lune. The song was performed as a class effort on the glockenspiels. Well done to 3DN, who under Mrs Nurdin’s tuition were able to video their performance to share with 3D and 3P.
We wish you all a Happy Easter
