Year 3 Weekly Highlights 28.3.25

What an exciting penultimate week in the Spring term Year 3 have had!

The teachers all enjoyed sharing the children’s progress at parents evening this week!

We have all been busy preparing for our project outcome next week. Year 3 have been working incredibly hard to make sure everything is ready to share!

In reading, we brought our book, The Lorax to an end this week and have started our new book for Summer 1, Wildsmith: Into the Dark Forest. So far, we have learnt our author and illustrator's names and have read the first chapter of the book. We are looking forward to seeing what adventure Rowan goes on!

In maths, we have continued our mass and capacity unit. This week, we have focused on understanding what millilitres are and then applying this to how to measure in millilitres and litres. We ended the week by looking at capacity and volume and the difference between the two terms.

In English, we have finished our guide about bees which will be ready to share at our project outcome. We have used our learning from our specialist visitor, Becca Hall as well as our own reading to summarise different aspects of bees. We have also started our own bee narrative inspired by the Bee Movie and Barry B. Benson.

Next week, we say goodbye to Miss Smith in Willow. We have enjoyed having Miss Smith in Year 3 and look forward to staying in contact. Mr Cross and Mrs Oldham are looking forward to teaching Willow class after the Easter holidays.

Thank you to all parents and carers for your ongoing support. We wish everyone a great Easter break when you get there next week and we’ll see you in the Summer term!

The Year 3 Team.
