Year 5 Weekly Highlights 14.3.25
We have had some super exciting moments this week with visitors and hooks into new learning. On Wednesday, we had some wonderful visitors come in to see the classes to talk to them about their jobs and the world of work. We had everything from estate agents, marketing and police. The children really enjoyed learning about different jobs and what they involved and meant. For our project, one of our concepts is enquiry and this shone through with the children as they had just thoughtful questions to ask our visitors. We really appreciate everyone for coming in!
We hooked the children to our new writing and DT topics today. Our writing is all about the Berlin Wall and the injustice and lack of freedom Eastern Germany had in comparison to Western Germany. We showed this simply with some children in the Astro not allowed to go anywhere and sat down, whereas some children we free to use the rest of the school grounds however they wished. The children were so surprised by this and brought some intriguing and emotive thoughts to the conversations back in the classroom. For DT we hid an example of our outcome in the school grounds - it was a spy in the the wild buggy. The children were excited to find and then make this next week.
We look forward to DT days and learning more about our new English next week.
