Year 3 Weekly Highlights 10.1.25

Year 3 have settled back into school after the Christmas holidays brilliantly! It has been great to hear about all the adventures and memories they have made over the break and refreshed for this new term.

On Tuesday, we were completely immersed into our new curriculum project, ‘Should we take more care of what we have?’. Throughout the day, Year 3 learnt about the key concepts that support the project question; conservation, care and hope. We were inspired by the book, Dear Children of the Earth, to create our own landscapes for endangered animals.

On Wednesday, we had a very exciting visit from our author, Andy Seed. During our inspiring workshops, we all learnt some fascinating facts about a whole range of endangered animals, how we can help and the key writing features he uses in his books.

In our English lessons, we have begun our new unit on the book, Greta and the Giants. We have all been blown away with the children's descriptive sentences they have created after being inspired by the images.

In Maths, we have continued our multiplication and division unit. We have learnt how to divide two digit numbers by one digit numbers with remainders. We have used place value charts and counters to support our learning whilst transferring our skills to create pictorial representations in our books.

Next week, we have our Library sessions (Alder and Willow on Monday and Laurel on Tuesday) so please keep up the reading over the weekend and remember to bring all your library books on your day, including any you would like to renew.

We wish everyone a lovely weekend,

The Year 3 Team.
