Year 3 Weekly Highlights 8.11.24
What a fantastic first week back we have had in Year 3!
In our Reading lessons, we have started to learn clues about our new book but the title of the book hasn’t been revealed yet! We have learnt that our new book is a science fiction text as well as some of our clues being a robot, the sun, a tractor, a seagull as well as some images from the book. A particular highlight this week has been Year 3 creating their robots with their learning partner to show their understanding of the features of science fiction texts. We enjoyed watching the children show their creativity!
In maths, we have continued our learning on our addition and subtraction unit. We have practised the skill of using our written column method to subtract across 100 as well as adding and subtracting with 2 and 3 digit numbers. We have been impressed with the layout of the written column methods in maths books.
A lot of excitement happened in the classrooms when we revealed that we’d be learning about the Stone Age in our History lessons this half term. This week, we focused on reminding ourselves what history is and why it is important to learn about history. We secured our understanding of our key words: archaeologists and artefacts and explored the time period using a timeline.
We wish you all a happy weekend!
The Year 3 Team.
