Year 3 Weekly Highlights 18.10.24
We can't believe another week has come to an end in Year 3!
In maths, we have continued our learning on our addition and subtraction unit focusing on the use of number lines to subtract 10s across 100 and using written methods. We have seen some beautifully laid out written methods in maths books!
In English, we finished reading the story of 'The Barnabus Project'. Year 3 have worked incredibly hard with their retelling of the story describing how the Failed Projects escaped from the underground lab. We were so impressed by the description that the children used in their own retelling. To finish this week, we have started our final outcome for The Barnabus Project by creating our own hybrid animal ready to write a fact file on it next week!
In reading, we have practised our reading fluency skills and inference skills using 'The Little Wooden Robot and the Log Princess'. We have thought carefully about what happens to our expression when we use speech punctuation and what informs our expression when we're reading.
To finish the week, Year 3 created their backgrounds for their own portrait inspired by Rembrandt's artwork of 'self'. The children used different patterns and their understanding of primary and secondary colours to portray their own identity through their background.
We look forward to seeing and speaking to you all at parents evening next week!
Have a great weekend!
The Year 3 Team.
