Year 3 Weekly Highlights 19.4.24
WOW! What an amazing start to our new project!
After listening to our guest speakers, we launched our question - What is the power of imagination? and began to unpick what imagination and creativity can look like and how we can use these skills when solving problems.
Another big highlight was seeing Year 3 take on the Walt Disney Imagineers challenge and seeing where their imagination and creativity would take them with their attractions. We all thoroughly enjoyed hearing their pitches for their fantasy lands and roller coasters and look forward to building on these skills throughout our project!
We have also begun our reading unit on The Iron Man by exploring the features of the science fiction genre, where authors can get their imaginative ideas from and the processes author’s use to bring their creative ideas into their own books!
In Science, we began our learning by investigating key scientists who have brought about creativity and innovation in different disciplines. Through our key scientist - Thomas Edison, we started to explore light by creating our own light boxes to explain how we need light to see even shiny tin foil.
After hearing from our animator guest speaker, the children embarked on the origins of animation by creating their own flip book animations! We are looking forward to building the skills of animation on the iPads!
We hope all of Year 3 have a great weekend,
Year 3 Team
