Year 6 Weekly Highlights 1.3.24
The fly has met its demise as they children crafted the end of the narrative to Spider and the Fly. This unit of work has allowed the children to refine their ability to move a story forward through dialogue. Next week we will see the start of a new unit.
Fractions, fractions and more fractions! The children have shown that they have a good grasp of fractions and have remembered a great deal from their year 5 learning. We have improved our maths oracy when reasoning about the size of fractions and understand equivalence and how useful it can be to compare and order fractions.
On a creative note, we have booked Nepalese landscapes and the colour wheel of primary, secondary and tertiary colours which will aid us with enhancing colours in our own compositions.
PDL, which is being led by Ms Loosemore, is discussing the importance of understanding how our memory works and the links memory has to our learning. This week, the children used the card game Go Fish to challenge their retention skills. Perhaps this is something that you could play over the weekend.
Have a good weekend,
Year 6 Team.
