Year 3 Weekly Highlights 23.2.24
Our new half term started with an exciting workshop with our designer, who is going to be developing our school grounds. The children had lots of exciting ideas and worked together to decide on the areas they might like around school. Thank you to all the parents who joined us for this.
In Maths, Year 3 have been drawing on their mass and capacity learning from last half term, as they compared the measurements of litres and millilitres and discussed the difference between capacity and volume.
Year 3 then worked together to predict what our new book might be about, before receiving a letter from our new author, Andy Shepherd. After reading chapter 1 and 2 this week, Year 3 have worked hard to infer from titles and pictures clues before creating their own family tree of the characters in our book - The Boy Who Grew Dragons.
In Science, we are beginning our new topic on states of matter by exploring solids, liquids and gases. All the classes brought the different materials to life when the children took on the role of the particles in each.
In English, we have drawn on our previous knowledge of the author Anthony Browne as we unpicked ‘Into the Forest’. Year 3 used charcoal to bring their own descriptions of their forest to life!
We all ended a very busy week with our new Yoga learning. We were all impressed with the children’s positive attitude, concentration and use of balance to create our different poses. We look forward to developing this over the coming weeks!
We wish everyone a lovely weekend!
