Year 4 Weekly Highlights 9.2.24
The last week of term is always a little bit more tricky and a struggle as we all become tired and ready for a rest and the opportunity to recharge our batteries. However, Year 4 this week bucked the trend with a fabulous PE lesson when they created their own sequences of balances and rolls into a PE sentence. Harmoniously, with their partners they performed their routine, showing tension, precision and perfected rolls. They are clearly an especially fit group but also demonstrated their commitment to showing their best. So far in history, Year 4 has compared the ancient civilisations of Sumer, Indus, Shang Dynasty of China and Egyptians. From this they established that they were all organised, literate with records of trade and seasons, grew crops and all had rivers which enabled them to settle. The next lessons focus on the River Nile and the importance of this great river. In English, the children are enjoying the adventures of Fox as he seeks the deep sea luminarus and will be describing their own discovery of a unique turtle which they will have the opportunity to describe to an expert at the Natural History Museum.
Continuing their work on multiplication and division, the children have been multiplying and dividing by 10 and 100. They have recognised patterns and identified that the digits move one or two places to the left or right on a place value board depending on the calculation. We hope the children will have the chance to relax and enjoy some good weather next week along with continuing to practise their times tables, (a couple of fun activities will come home on Friday) with the opportunity to improve their scores on TTRS. We greatly appreciate all your parental support with reading, times tables and spellings. Thank you.
Best wishes Year 4 Team
