Year 3 Weekly Highlights 12.1.24
Year 3 got off to a fantastic start this week with our author visit from Andy Seed. During our inspiring workshops, we all learnt some fascinating facts about a whole range of endangered animals, how we can help and the key writing features he uses in his books.
In our English lessons, we have been exploring Greta Thunberg and a range of persuasive features in order to create our own letters to the Giant in character. We will be editing and publishing our writing next week.
Today in Maths, we completed our multiplication and division unit. However, we will be continuing to work on our times tables and recapping our key ideas of multiplication and division as morning starters and through our fluency focus at the beginning of every lesson. We will embark on our Length and Perimeter unit next week.
In Science, we recapped the ways we can classify animals into groups and the key features of each group from mammals and reptiles to amphibians and birds.
We all enjoyed using the chromebooks to learn the key skills of our programming software, Scratch. We began to sequence the actions of our own sprites!
Next week, we have our Library sessions (3H and 3R on Monday and 3D on Tuesday) so please keep up the reading over the weekend and remember to bring all your library books on your day, including any you would like to renew.
We wish everyone a lovely weekend,
The Year 3 Team.
