Year 6 Weekly Highlights 1.12.23
Passion was running high this week in year 6. The year group were feeling very aggrieved at how the Windrush generation were treated and are still being treated: we all believe they are entitled to British Citizenship and freedom of movement. Linking to this, we spent two afternoons considering anti-bullying and the motto 'make a noise about bullying.' One of the areas being racism and equality for all. We looked very closely at the meaning of banter and how children can use this to excuse being hurtful. The children created their own banter meters, which show when banter turns to bullying. Our raps represented all areas of bullying we covered during this time and how we can stand up to bullies.
In maths, we looked back in time thinking about imperial units and why we changed to metric. Life is so much easier now (says Mrs Coking), powers of 10 are so useful. Children learnt how to convert metric units and time.
Games was cold! In circuits, we were continuing our core skills; this week we focussed on agility.
We ended the week with advent beginning. Mrs Coking's room was visited by the naughty elf! I wonder whose classroom will be next!
