Year 3 Weekly Highlights 10.11.23
Year 3 did us incredibly proud this week on each of the school trip days. Whilst at Hilliers, Year 3 learnt about prehistory, what archaeologists do and wear, created their own Stone Age bracelets and paintbrushes and even dug in an archaeological trench to search for artefacts. Fun was had by all despite the weather! A big thank you once again to our parent helpers who supported each of the school trips.
In reading, we have started our new non-fiction unit on the Stone Age. We have looked at the contents, index and glossary pages, what they do and the layout features of a non-fiction page. We will continue to build on our knowledge of non-fiction texts next week.
In maths, we have continued our learning of exchanging through addition and subtraction. The children have used place value counters to support their understanding whilst writing the number sentences as a written method.
This week, we also started our Art unit on Prehistoric Pottery. We started to explore cave paintings and where they came from. In our lesson, we used different coloured chalks and some charcoal to replicate different cave paintings. We had lots of fun experimenting and being creative!
On Wednesday, a Diwali presentation was shared with Year 3 about what it is and the importance of it to some people.
We hope you have a lovely weekend!
