Jumping 30 years to the 2nd World War, we became evacuees today. Having reached the countryside and seeing sheep for the first time, we were trained how to put out fires and react to the air raid sirens. Crowding into their Anderson shelter, we were protected from dropping bombs.
 

After a bit of shopping with our rationing books, we made some delicious treats: mock fish fritters, beef hash fritters, scones, carrot cakes and bramble pies. Delicious!

Our final stop, was the school room, where we wrote postcards to our parents and did some maths calculating amounts in pounds, shillings and pence. Even the teachers struggled. 
 

This evening, we are looking forward to celebrating the end of the War in our VE Day celebratory dinner ( We will add these photos later). 
 

As you can tell, we have had a fun packed day and were very blessed with the wonderful, dry weather. 

Meanwhile.......

Holding the fort back at school, the children have been busy baking using simple wartime recipes, making timelines and learning about the Blitz listening air raid siren's warning city dwellers to run for cover in the Anderson shelters.
