Year 3 Weekly Highlights 9.6.23
We started the week listening to Year 3's performance poetry entries. The Year 3 Team were thoroughly impressed by every single poem that was read and the way they were read too. From talking with the children, they found it hard to choose their favourite and each class even had to have a second round to try and narrow the poems down!
We have also had a history day this week. The children were fully immersed into their new topic, Romans, by exploring a painting, looking at pictorial sources, exploring the chronology of some important eras and finding out facts about the Celts. We have also looked at who led the Romans and who was their leader.
This week, we also started our new PE dance unit with Integr8 dance. Year 3 have all started to learn some street dance moves. Fun was had by all so ask your child to show them a move that they learnt!
We all had so much fun during our Roman play-in-a-day with Treehouse Theatre. The children did themselves and us proud with their performance of 'The Romans are Coming!'. One of the highlights for the Year 3 Team was seeing the majority of Year 3 dressed up as a Roman! Year 3 were split into 4 groups and each group performed a scene as part of the play.
A special mention must go to each class poetry winner: Amelia, Samuel and Eliza. They all performed a beautifully spoken and rehearsed poem in front of the school and did themselves, their teachers and their class proud.
What a busy first week back we have had! Enjoy the weekend in the sunshine!
