Year 5 Weekly Highlights 19.5.23
This week has been a busy week in Year 5. In English, we have continued to explore the book ‘The Wonder Garden’ and have finished up this by writing in the style of the author Jenny Broom. We have been looking at marine wildlife and used the book as inspiration for our writing.
This week in Maths, we have started our new unit on measurements by looking at reading a variety of scales and being able to draw upon what we know about fractions and decimals to help us decide the intervals.
In History this week, we looked at how we can use a variety of sources to help us answer our question ‘Were the Vikings peaceful traders or evil raiders?’ With our next lesson concluding this!
In Science this week, we looked at 3 ways of being able to separate mixtures and were able to try these in class with a variety of different mixtures. We were also able to explain the difference between a solution and a mixture.
We have spent our art time this week painting to support our Community Day next week by painting flowers. We are looking forward to sharing this with you next week as well as our other activities!
Finally, we started our PDL unit about money and looked at Money Scams and how to be aware of these.
We hope you all have a fantastic weekend! - Year 5 Team
