Year 3 Weekly Highlights 12.5.23
We hope you all had a wonderful Coronation weekend. I am not quite sure how we are all going to cope next week having to be in school for all five days!
In English, we have finished our work based on Escape from Pompeii, and we have been blown away by the children's hard work. We even got to show some to Miss Loosemore. We also showed off our skills by writing a description from part of Iron Man. This book has continued to be our reading focused, and we have loved exploring the language features and the style of Ted Hughes writing. Fun Fact: Ted Hughes wrote this book after telling this story to his children bedtime.
In Maths, we have finished our work on money and move on to time. To help support each child's individual start points, we have decided to split them to help them make the most of this topic. Do encourage your children to practise the skill of telling time at home. Particularly on analogue clocks.
In art, the children have continued to be inspired by the front cover of Iron Man and are excited to paint in the next few weeks. In science - we have started to explore the human bodies: looking at bones and x-rays. The children did a brilliant job of making a life-size model of the skeleton which was the same size as most of them!
We hope you all have a restful weekend and look forward to seeing you soon
