Year 3 Weekly Highlights 24.3.23
We had the best start to the week - tasting chocolate! Thank you to Mrs Carroll for organising. As well as actually being able to eat in class, the children immersed themselves in learning about how Fair Trade Chocolate was made. The Fair Trade Chocolate we tasted was made in Ghana Madagascar, Peru and Grenada! Did you know cocoa is one of the most difficult things to grow? In maths this week, we have continued to work on mass and capacity but we have really tried to focus on times tables. We will be using a counting stick to help embed this learning. This will work alongside our TTRS. Please do encourage your children to practise these in any way they can. Watch this video to see it in action https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcnWKHs9K0E.
And, if you want to challenge yourself further, check out this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXdHGBfoqfw Our maths leader Mrs Coking shared this with us at a staff meeting earlier this half term and who knows, maybe you can learn your 17 times tables too!
While in English, we have written our own stories based on our text, diary of a killer cat. We chose to write either as a hamster or as a budgie. Some of the work is attached so make sure to have a read.
We are coming to the end of our work on the Boy who Grew Dragons - there is just one more week planned in. This week, we have been looking at fact and opinion, inferencing and justifying our responses. The children have a great understanding of the book so far. We can't wait to see how it ends.
Wishing you a restful weekend.
