Year 5 Weekly Highlights 10.2.23
This week “has been amazing!” – Year 5 PupiL
In English, we wrote the missing pages to the ‘Water Tower.’ We wrote a 3rd person narrative in the style of Gary Crew (the author) to complete the book. We used a variety of skills such as suspense tools, parenthesis to make our writing eerie.
In Reading, we continued to look at the book called “Yusra swims.” This week we looked at Refugees and wrote a First Person Narrative describing when Yusra faced challenges and how she overcame it.
In Art, we planned and painted our River Art picture – which were amazing - we each chose a section of the river (Upper, lower and middle course) to paint using a variety of techniques and mixing such as Tonking, Swirling and Sgraffito.
In Maths, we have finished our learning on short and expanded multiplication. We drew Area Models and 2-way tables to help us with our learning. We used the expanded method to solve a 2 digit number times a 2 digit number (TOxTO)
On Friday, we celebrated make the rules day and children’s mental health week. We made paperchains to show the connections we have to everyone around us and we learnt a dance, which connected us to the whole school. “The key to life is working together” – Year 5 Pupil.
Happy half term!
