Year 3 Weekly Highlights 13.1.23
Another super week in year 3.
We have been so proud of how well the children have helped us to showcase their learning with our visitors this week so well done year 3.
In English, we have started to look at the story "The day the crayons quit". The children have inferred their understanding looking at how the crayons are feeling and what each colour has tried to persuade Duncan to do. We have seen some super working together skills.
In maths, we have been working on using our knowledge of times tables and related number facts to help us solve problems and have also looked at scaling. Despite finding this tricky, year 3 have used their skills of ambition to keep going - especially when things were tough.
Our topic in RE is about "ideas about God" and we have looked at our ideas of God and what that means to us. In Geography, we have started our new topic. We have used compass and atlas skills to look at Europe and locate places within the continent. We have also started our new science topic - solids, liquids and gases. The children loved exploring different materials, trying to classify these based on their understanding. As part of our PDL learning we have been using some THRIVE activities (thanks to Mrs Boden). THRIVE is part of our well-being hub in school. Their mission is to help children become more emotionally resilient and better placed to engage with life and learning. If you want to know more about THRIVE search "thrive approach" or contact Mrs Boden or the year 3 staff via the school office.
We will be starting our DT topic in a few weeks time and will be sending out an email next week. Next Friday (20th) is our Inclusive sports day. The children will need to come in wearing their games kit and wrapped up warm. our Art Gallery Trip is Monday 30th January.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
