Year 5 Weekly Highlights 18.11.22
This week Year 5 have been engrossed in writing their non-chronological reports about a newly discovered planet. Using precise, scientific language the children have described the location, size, landscape and plant and animal life. From cold planets to extremely hot ones, the children have amazed us with their creativity.
In maths we have been learning to read and interpret two way tables. reflecting on previous learning the children have applied their addition and subtraction problem solving to answer questions relating to the complex tables.
Thinking about gravity has been on the minds of all the children this week during their science lessons. Exploring newton meters the children have looked the relationship between mass and the force. They all enjoyed reading a range of measures on the newton meters.
Our DT textile unit got underway this week with the paper and pasting of the Mayan doll bottles. Next week we will be painting them, ready to begin to look at Mayan clothes design.
Today, Friday, brought us to the end of our anti-bullying reflection week with a focus on reaching out to others who are victims of bullying. The children considered the different roles people play in a bullying incident and how they be the ones to make a change and reach out to others in need. The children enjoyed writing poems and art work.
Have a wonderful weekend.
