Year 4 Weekly Highlights 30.9.22
We’ve had another busy week in Year 4! We enjoyed seeing lots of parents at our Welcome event on Monday.
One of this week’s highlights was our trip to Bolderwood. The children were excellent ambassadors for the school and really impressed the trip leaders with their enquiring skills. Questions to ask your child:
- Why didn’t the holly leaves grow below a certain level? How many points do the leaves have?
- Is the New Forest new? Who named it?
- What animals live there?
We all agreed that the New Forest is a really important place that needs to be protected.
In maths this week, we have been partitioning four digit numbers in various different ways. Thank you for supporting your child with their weekly times tables practice – this really will make a positive impact on their wider mathematical skills.
Following our BFG Wanted posters, we have been exploring a short film called ‘The Dream Giver’ in English. The children have really enjoyed watching, discussing and describing the video in order to apply their expanding vocabularies and write the story as a narrative.
We are looking forward to our next trip, which is on Tuesday 4th October. Please send your child to school in warm trousers, sturdy footwear and a waterproof coat on that day.
Have a great weekend,
The Year 4 team
