Year 3 Weekly Highlights 20.5.22
This week in year 3 the children have used many practical activities to support their learning.
In history our key enquiry question that we have been focusing on is 'Why were the Romans successful?' This week the children played history detectives as they used different pictures and text sources to learn more about the Romans. Armed with this information, they formed a conscience alley and argued the case for fleeing France to escape the Romans against staying put in France under the Roman regime.
In maths, we are continuing are unit on fractions and have created different fractions number lines by measuring out rice in containers. These containers were then marked to show 1/4, 1/2 and 1/3. Counters have also been used to help support the children in calculating fractions of a whole by dividing using the denominator.
In English, we have started writing our own historical adventure story based on the book 'Escape from Pompeii'. We have learned all about fronted adverbials this week and have been applying them to our writing.
We are looking forward to celebrating the Queens platinum jubilee, here’s hoping the sun will shine on Wednesday.
