We started off the week with Mrs Hartley launching 'The Empowerment Approach' and introducing executive functioning skills. As a school, we are focusing on 'attention control' as the first executive functioning skill to understand how our brain works and functions.

Year 3 have been working their socks off this week with publishing their letters to the Giants in character as Greta Thunberg. They have planned, edited and produced amazing final letters. We are so proud of their use of persuasive features and sentence structures in their letters and we know they are very proud of these too! Next week, we will begin our new writing unit on the ‘Interview with the Tiger’ book from our author visit!

In maths, we have brought our learning on length and perimeter to a close. We have been comparing lengths, adding and subtracting lengths and looking at equivalent lengths across millimetres, centimetres and metres as well as learning about perimeter.

In Reading, we have brought our work on the book, Interview with a Panda, to an end. We have looked at both the Nimba Toad and Tiger Chameleon pages to practise our note-taking and reading fluency skills. Year 3 really impressed us today when we looked at different themes across the different animal pages we have focused on. Well done Year 3!

Next week is our library session with Mrs Thomas. Please could all Year 3 children make sure their library books are in school on Monday.
