Year 4 Weekly Highlights 12.7.24
There always seems such a lot to pack into the Year 4 weekly highlightsand this week is no exception. The week kicked off with the amazing Al Syvester. As a new visitor to the school, he was a bit of an unknown but he did not disappoint. The children were totally absorbed and inspired by his knowledge on Antarctica and his experiences surviving against the odds, and there were plenty of them! His recount of events and his description of the harsh conditions helped us all to realise the challenges that faced Shackleton and how he really is a hero who survived against the odds. The children were then wowed in the afternoon by the Year 6 performance of Matilda. Their performance and singing was outstanding and definitely showcased some real talent. Tuesday was ,of course , their second transition day. After the buzz of the first day, the children were delighted to be returning to their new September classes and excited to make those new connections. The children finished the morning with some wonderful artwork ready for their new displays. By Wednesday, the children were ready for some normality and enjoyed a second lesson on statistics and unpicking charts. In English, using some of the great descriptions from Monday the children planned their independent writing around the Shackleton exploration but writing from the ice's viewpoint. The description and emotions have again blown us away. Year 4 is definitely drawing to an end on a high.
