Year 4 Weekly Highlights 10.5.24
Just when you think our weeks can't get any more full of great learning experiences, we take it to the next level! Year 4 is very much enjoying having such a variety.
Our work on Beowulf has moved on to writing our playscripts for our performance. Each act of the story is edited year on year to include the children's own lines that they have composed. With that, we have held auditions and allocated parts with lots of happy faces all around. We can't wait for you to see our brave Beowulfs, sinister Sea Hags and the deadly dragon.
The time had come to move on from time in maths, and this week we have ventured into the realms of geometry. The children were very impressive with recalling their prior knowledge about angles and will continue to build on this throughout the unit.
The weather has been perfect for our Games lessons with a spot of cricket on the field in the sunshine. The children have really demonstrated how they have progressed in throwing and catching a ball, and with some of the hits we have seen, Hampshire Hawks will come knocking for batters any day now.
Finally, in computing, we have been working on photoediting techniques and as well as experimenting with colour changes, cropping and rotating, we have discussed how such edits can alter one's interpretation and feelings about a photograph. Many children said that the black and white photos looked very old. It would be interesting to see their reactions to themselves in black and white photographs!
