Year 4 Weekly Highlights 14.7.23
Dear Parents and Carers,
We can't believe that we are nearly into our final week of term!
The children have still been working hard and we're really pleased with how they have continued to try their best. They have really enjoyed finding out about Shackleton's Antarctic expedition in English and especially the adventures of the stowaway, Perce Blackborrow! The children's recounts have been a great final piece of writing to finish the unit of work.
In maths, they have continued to learn about decimals and have been using place value grids and counters to compare and order decimals. We’ve been really impressed with the children’s enthusiasm and ambition while they’ve been practising and applying their new knowledge of tenths and hundredths.
In DT, the children have been encouraged to get into the mindset of master criminals. Don’t worry - they have been working out how to foil them! They needed to design and create a museum alarm system to protect the Rosetta Stone from thieves. Children worked in groups to put their science knowledge of circuits, conductors and insulators into practice. It has been such a lot of fun to see their creativity and problem solving in action.
Have a fabulous weekend,
The year 4 team
