Year 4 Weekly Highlights 23.6.23
It has been yet another fantastic and eventful week in Year 4! We have witnessed our children's remarkable hard work and we could not be prouder of their achievements. To start with, we wrapped up our multiplication checks with all the Y4 children now having completed the test. The dedication and effort our children have put into mastering their times tables truly paid off. We would like to encourage you to continue emphasising the importance of practising these essential skills, as they will undoubtedly support your child's progress throughout their school journey. Tuesday was an exciting day for the entire school as subject leaders had the opportunity to speak with a group of children about their respective subjects. As the history subject leader, I was thrilled to witness the children's enthusiasm and passion for the subject. It was clear that they had experienced some incredible lessons, acquiring a wealth of knowledge and developing remarkable historical skills. Nothing makes me prouder than hearing the children talk about their love for exploring the past! Back in Year 4, we introduced a new topic: decimals. The children quickly grasped the concept by relating it to fractions, before dividing single digit numbers by 10. In English, we concluded our captivating journey through the true story of Emanuel and his cycle trip around Ghana, with only one strong leg. The children were inspired and passionate about this amazing tale. In science, we delved into the world of classification. Using keys, the children learned how to identify various creatures based on their characteristics. Lastly, we were astounded by the incredible street dancing skills displayed by our talented children week. Despite my best efforts, I found it nearly impossible to keep up with their quick mastery of new steps, impeccable rhythm and overall brilliance! They really do embrace new challenges with such confidence. We hope you have a super weekend.
