Year 6 Weekly Highlights 19.5.23
On Monday, we went on a school trip to boost our understanding of the story of RMS Titanic. We went to the SeaCity museum in Southampton. We learnt lots about the people who were onboard the ship and did an exciting workshop and learnt about how it sank and the causes such as a lack of lifeboats and lights. We are now writing an SOA in English about inviting a wealthy 1st class passenger onboard!
On Tuesday, we started our swimming lessons at Fleming Park. We will go every week and get a 30-minute slot in the pool. We were sorted into three groups based on our abilities in the water. We had so much fun and can't wait for next week’s lesson!
On Wednesday, we had our auditions for our leavers’ production: High School Musical! All of us had the opportunity to audition for any role we wanted. The main parts (Gabriella, Troy, Sharpay and Ryan) sang some songs at the front of the hall. We all had a go at singing and dancing no matter what part we wanted.
On Thursday, we did science for a morning and learnt about different animals and their circulatory system. Specifically, we learnt how bigger animals usually have a slower heart rate. Did you know that a pygmy shrew’s heart beats 1300 times a minute? That’s 21.66 beats per second!
After SATs last week, we are really enjoying wearing our leavers hoodies.
We can’t wait for next week!
