Year 3 Weekly Highlights 16.12.22
Merry Christmas.
What an amazing term! The children have worked so incredibly hard this term and we couldn't be prouder of them.
We have seen our naughty elves: Noel and Noelle cause more mischief this week! In our Christmas trees and even got paint out today! We hope your elves haven't been as naughty.
In Maths, we have continued to work on multiplication and division. The children have looked for patterns in number and found out that multiplication can be done in any order.
In English, we have been reading "Tell me a Dragon" and will continue after the break by designing our own dragon and writing a poem about it. We have now written our Marvellous Medicine instructions. We have attached a few pictures of these. The children have loved thinking creatively about creating their own medicine following our instruction learning in the story "How to wash a Woolley Mammoth".
We have finished our history work on the Stone Age and science work on Rocks and Soils. The children loved making their clay pots in art as well.
A particular highlight of our week was winter sports day. Despite the cold, the children showed amazing working together and ambition skills. I know Mr Wright has sent a separate note home about this. A huge thank you to him and the sports captains for this amazing experience.
We also celebrated our Community Value winners: Toby (3BC) Chloe L (3P) and Alex O (3D) - a huge well done to the three of you for being constant role models in all of our community values. Another award goes to Colby as Mrs Nurdin's pupil of the term. 3BC have watched Colby play the keyboard and we can see just how hard he has been working - Well Done Colby.
Our Christmas present to the children this year is to spread kindness. As such, a donation has been made to https://www.edukaid.com/ This donation will allow them to buy could fund enough maize to feed an entire class for a year, could pay for a box of chalk for a whole class and/or could pay for a hygiene training session for 100 people.
From all the team, we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We hope the Christmas break is a time for you to spend with your loved ones and to relax.
See you in 2023.
