Year 3 Weekly Highlights 18.11.22
We started off our week by creating some beautiful artwork as part of our prehistoric pottery art unit. The children explored the different patterns that pots from the Stone Age times had on them and then took on the challenge of sketching them in their art books.
In English this week, we have continued our unit on Stone Age Boy. The children have been learning about using inverted commas to punctuate speech correctly. They then applied their understanding of speech by continuing to write the Stone Age boy story from a picture.
In maths this week, we have continued our learning about written methods for addition and subtraction unit. Our main focus has been column addition for regrouping 1s and 10s. The children have really taken their time with their layout of their algorithms.
We have sadly come to the end of our reading book 'The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs' which is a twisted fairy tale. The children applied their knowledge of letter writing by writing an apology letter to the third little pig from the viewpoint of Alexander T. Wolf - what a super job they did! We will continue our fairy tale unit with our new reading book too!
We have ended the week by sharing with the children which Flyers will be proudly displayed in the window of Sparks Ellison - we would just like to share that ALL children did a fantastic job at creating their flyer.
Please continue to keep reading 3 times a week with your child, practising their spellings on Google Classroom and practising the multiplication and division facts for the 2, 5 and 10 times table on Times Table Rock Stars.
