Year 5 Weekly Highlights 21.10.22
What a wonderful start to Year 5 we have had this year. After eight weeks, we have reached our first holiday and the whole teaching team are so proud of the enthusiasm and effort that the Year 5 pupils have displayed. We have really enjoyed meeting you all during the parents' evening and being able to share some highlights with you.
This week we have come to the end of our Geography unit. It has provoked awe, wonder and highlighted the many issues our planet is facing due to climate change and globalisation. In maths , we also have completed our addition and subtraction unit. This week we have been exploring single step and multi-step word problems and applying our knowledge to solve them.
In English we wrote our journal entry of the planet Pandora. Using a range of language devices the children captured the majestic and captivating features of the planet. We look forward to continuing this unit after half term. It wasn't just all completions of units this week, but also new starts! In Art we began to look at the artist Kim Poor and explore his inspiring and unique Space art. The children designed their own landscapes in the style of the artist and have had time to explore and begin the art project.
Please refer to google classroom where we have posted a couple of things that we would like the children to do: reading chapter 3 of the Warrior boy, Mayan doll preparation and Poppy pebbles for Remembrance Day. Thank you for all your support. Happy half term!
