Year 6 Weekly Highlights 14.10.22
We've had another exciting week in Year 6!
In English this week we have completed the introduction, and diet paragraph for our non-fiction texts. On Wednesday, we then started to write our poster about the creature. Lots of photos below. You can see them at parents evening too!
In reading this week we read more of The Viewer and we are planning to write as the viewer, talking about what we are doing to the character Tristan. Yesterday we made comparisons between different parts of the book like from the start and near the end?
In maths this week we learnt about factors and common factors. On Friday this week we learnt about divisibility rules. One activity was sorting different numbers on a Venn Diagram solving if the different numbers are factors or not.
Geography was a highlight this week! Learning all about earthquake case studies and where they have happened in the world. We had to use a school map to find the facts Miss Bristow had hidden, piece them together and decide which was the most destructive earthquake. After this, we talked about how places can be made safer by making strong building structures. We were challenged to make 'earthquake proof' buildings using spaghetti and marshmallows. Some lasted better than others!!
But we think the highlight of our week would be our DISCO !!!
