Year 5 Weekly Highlights 7.10.22
This week in Year 5 we have been carrying on our English unit of the well-known poem the Listeners. We have been writing a descriptive recount in the view of the traveller and have also been working on creating an eerie effect on the reader. On Friday, we have been working on editing and improving our writing just like the author Tom Palmer does with his books.
In Maths we have been practising our decimals numbers, our column addition as well as using number bonds to solve facts to 100,000.
In Science, we have been learning about the earth's rotation that creates day and night for us humans. One of the things we did to improve our understanding is we had a globe and torch and the torch represented the sun the globe represented the earth. Next, we spun the globe round to represent night and day.
In Reading, we have been studying ‘The Raft’ by inferring and summarising using inference sums.
We have been trying to understand what Nicky felt in different situations.
