Year 4 Weekly Highlights 23.9.22
Well, our lovely new Year's 4's are settling in nicely now and impressing us with their enthusiasm and effort. In maths, we have embarked on 4 digit numbers with a thorough exploration of one thousand - how it can be variously represented and partitioned into hundreds, tens and ones. We have also recently sent home a reminder of your child's Times Tables Rock Stars login. Learning all the times tables is a key objective in Year 4 so please encourage your child to go on TTRS at least 3 times a week as part of their homework. If you need any further help logging in, please ask.
In English, the children have written wanted posters describing a mysterious tall, dark figure who is wanted for snatching a poor orphan girl from her bed. The children have also enjoyed experimenting with Quentin Blake's artistic style in preparation for drawing the BFG to accompany their poster. Other curriculum highlights this week included an investigation into solids and liquids, where the children's thinking was challenged by some objects that don't neatly fit into the categories such as toothpaste, hair gel and salt.
Next week, we have our trip to the New Forest to support our geography learning to look forward to, so have a restful weekend and we'll see you back on Monday, Year 4, for more fun and learning!
